Wedding DJs have a saying: venues for weddings are not created equal. There is quite a range of quality in Dallas, TX for wedding venues because of the scarcity of finding a space. I’ve played in reception halls that were mansions that seem like palaces to ranch barns that seemed like pigs still lived there. At a few weddings, I have been asked by wedding attendees what were the best venues not only for engaged couples but were also Dj favorites. So I thought of my personal favorites and I noticed they had some commonalities between them. They all had well thought out logistics, solid acoustics, fairly close to Dallas/Ft Worth, and good staff support for DJs. Here are my personal 4 favorite wedding venues in the DFW.

1. Knotting Hill Place: Wedding Venue Elegance

Every Dj has that one place he wishes all his brides and grooms could afford. By far, Knotting Hill Place is the cream of the crop. Cozily located off of Eldorado Pkwy in Little Elm, it is the epitome wedding elegance. Driving up to this palace you might think the hit show Bridgerton might have shot an episode or two here. The Victorian period architecture from stone lion fountains to the carving of the columns make you just want to pause for a quick photo shoot. As big as it is, it still has a simple but spacious layout making it accommodating for a lot of guests but easy for a DJ. Each area from the chapel to even the outside has a designated space for a DJ and the acoustics are superb. You can play music anywhere and it sounds clear even in the restrooms. My favorite place to set up is on the reception balcony, especially since it makes the perfect place to project visuals right above the Bride and Groom table. As beautiful as the chapel is there can be high interference with mics once guests and photographers crowd in there so make sure to clear a path for the receivers. But the acoustics are so good there, a speaker could hardly need a mic. All in all, if you’re looking for that venue that gives you that fairy tale wedding that nobody wants to end, including the DJ, this is the one.

2. Ruthe Jackson: Wedding Venue Emmenities

I have played a few weddings at Ruthe Jackson and each time I find something new that I love about it. Located off of S Carrier Pkwy in Grand Prairie, you can’t help but notice it has a certain charm about it when you get there. Its reception area is massive, by far one of the biggest I’ve seen. The designated DJ area already comes with a table and has a backdoor that makes it perfect for bringing in equipment. It only has a ceremony space in the backyard, but the space has a surround sound setup that a DJ would only need to plug in to thru an aux. You don’t find too many venues like this that come with their own Event Coordinator too, who does a great job supporting the newlyweds and vendors. This was also one of the few venues I’ve seen with projector screens set up for videos and visuals that work great for dinner entertainment. If you’re looking to accommodate a lot of guests but not trying to break the bank give this place a try, your DJ will thank you for it!

        3. Aristide: European Styled Venue Wedding

With Aristide being tuck away near Downtown Colleyville,TX, if you blink you might miss it. But this venue really is a wedding planner’s hidden gem. It’s european style architecture gives it an exotice flare, but it’s interior gives attendees intimate familiarity. It’s chapel makes you feel like you are in an old school baptist church but completely renovated. The aisle is a bit tight here, which makes it a bit tricky to set up a table for sound coordinating a ceremony, but this chapel by far gives the best real “church” feel. The cocktail area is an outside courtyard that is charming but can be pretty harsh in summer heat or random rain. The reception area has a great size with a big center dance floor. It has a unique feature of floor plugs that allows versatile light and sound set up. Parking is a bit of a challenge especially if you can’t find street parking but the reception backdoor allows smooth gear loading. The staff also has great communication and accommodations for the vendors as well. I’m looking forward to doing more weddings here.

  4. Firefly Gardens: A Wedding Venue Retreat

Firefly Gardens is another venue that is a wedding photographer's eye candy. If you’re looking for that stylish ranch wedding but not too much of a drive outside the city, this is one of the best I’ve seen. Maybe I have gotten lucky, but the staff here may be the quickest, flexible, and helpful I have ever worked with. The chapel area has an incline like an amphitheater which can be a bit of a challenge for mic interference but still makes one of the most beautiful outside ceremony areas I worked in. The reception hall's huge windows give attendees a lush and bright ambiance, which I have seen flipped for a wedding ceremony during rainy weather. The acoustics are also great in this building, which allows you to hear the action clearly anywhere in the building. You do have to drive up through the front to load out your gear but it’s not too bad if you have a rolling cart.

Make sure you check out these venues when you are putting together your dream wedding. If you need any recommendations for a venue or the perfect playlist for your big day please reach out to us below.
